How to store and replace miswak
A natural toothbrush such as miswak should be kept clean and according to the product directions. Storage depends on packaging, processing and the manufacturer’s advice; there is no single universal rule for every product.
Simple storage steps
- Read the directions and any stated best-before date.
- Do not share your miswak and keep its tip away from unclean surfaces.
- After use, follow the package instructions for drying and storage; keep it in a clean place.
- Open individual packaging only when needed and store the remainder as directed on the label.
When should you stop using it?
Stop if you notice mould, an unusual smell, contamination, damage or irritation. Follow the manufacturer’s stated use limit; we cannot recommend one fixed replacement interval for every type.
Hygiene and safety
Use gentle movements. If the tip becomes worn, follow only the manufacturer’s method for refreshing it; do not cut or scrape it in ways that are not recommended. Ask a dentist if bleeding, pain or sensitivity persists.
